Director

Julia Hannud is an auteur documentary director and founder of UMA FILMES, an independent production company in São Paulo focused on experimental and documentary artists. She directed the short film Amor, Só de Mãe (2018), shortlisted for the Student BAFTA, and the feature film Saudade Mundão (2020), premiered at FESTin Lisboa, about women in prison, available on digital platforms. She also directed the short film "BACURANAO", produced during her master's degree in documentary at EICTV in Cuba and currently in the final stages of completion.

She is in the final stages of post-production on her next feature film, "CARCEREIRAS". The film has been produced in different laboratories, such as the Campus Latino of the Goethe Institut (Mexico, Chile, Colombia), Nuevas Miradas (Cuba), SANFIC in Chile and FULGOR LAB in Spain.

As a producer, she made the feature film "THE PRISON BEAUTY CONTEST" by Srdjan Sarenac (2018), "PARTIR" by Sonia Guggisberg selected at the festival É TUDO VERDADE (2018), "AMAZÔNIA, A NOVA MINAMATA?" (2023) by Jorge Bodanzky and is in the development phase of "CÁ ESTAMOS, CÁ ESTIVEMOS" (2025), by director Juliana Serfaty (2025).

Julia is a master in creative documentaries at Pompeu Fabra University, in Spain.
